“Since 1997 I’ve drawn thousands of “Hughcards” [cartoons drawn on the backs of business card], just to give me something to do while sitting at the bar. Over time they have become increasingly religious and or meditative, over time they became ‘Cathedrals’.
(What is a “Cathedral”?)
A “Cathedral” is a series of smaller, business-card-sized drawings drawn in the space of one month (circa 50-125 pieces, depending on output), forming a single piece under a single pane of glass.
“Cathedral” is a metaphor for a Holy Place, where the spirit goes to be amplified.
Some favorite of mine from a couple of years ago.
All these were fom 2015. Doesn’t seem like all that long ago.
